Celebrating Maths week and number day at SVP

Yesterday, we welcomed a group of Year 5 children from two of the other schools in our trust (Springdale and Warstones) , along with a group of our own Year 5 children, to take part in a maths challenge workshop - CSI: Michaela Maths run by 'As Creatives'.

From the moment the workshop began, pupils were immersed in a series of carefully designed challenges that required them to think deeply, work logically and explain their reasoning clearly. Every task encouraged pupils to approach problems like mathematicians – testing ideas, spotting patterns and refining strategies when things didn’t quite work the first time.

Working with children from the other trust schools added an extra layer of excitement.

Children were encouraged to justify their thinking, listen to alternative approaches and build on each other’s ideas, reinforcing the importance of clear mathematical communication. All of the children were able to work effectively in groups to find out the culprit of the crime!
